Successful Left Ventricular Assist Device Support in Patient with Bjork-Shiley Mitral Valve Replacement

چکیده
There is limited clinical experience with left ventricular assist device therapy in patients with prosthetic mitral valves. We present a case of successful left ventricular assist device support in a patient with previous mechanical mitral valve replacement.

High-risk Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Mitral Valve Replacement in a HIV Positive Patient
Certain subsets of high-risk mitral valve patients are not suitable candidates for transcatheter therapies. The objective of this report is to present a young patient with combined mitral valve and coronary artery disease to illustrate these challenges. In this report, we present a 47-year-old man with longstanding HIV infection who was referred with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and profound...

Background: It has not been yet developed a ost suitable method to treat right ventricular failure due to pulmonar artery hypertention resulted from ventricular arrhythia. Though some case reports about patients ready to heart transplant using left assist device or biventral assist device as bridge have been published in Journals, but nocase concerning application of centrifugal pump for treatm...

Objective: To compare survival and outcome in patients receiving a mechanical or bioprosthetic heart valve prosthesis. Design: Randomised prospective trial. Setting: Tertiary cardiac centre. Patients: Between 1975 and 1979, patients were randomised to receive either a Bjork-Shiley or a porcine prostheses. The mitral valve was replaced in 261 patients, the aortic in 211, and both valves in 61 pa...
متن کاملLeft ventricular function before and following double valve replacement by Björk-Shiley prostheses.
Postoperative survival and cardiac function were studied in 45 patients who underwent combined mitral and aortic valve replacement by Bjork-Shiley prostheses between 1971 and 1977. The average follow-up was three years. Pre-operative left ventricular ejection fraction ranged from 28 to 78% (mean 57%). The hospital mortality rate for the entire series was 18%, the five year survival rate 58%. Ho...
متن کاملRight sided heart evaluation after successful mitral valve replacement.
Introduction: It is well-documented that right-sided heart dysfunction and significant tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) have adverse effects on patient outcomes after left-sided heart valve surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of right ventriclular (RV) function and TR severity in patients who had undergone mitral valve replacement (MVR), associated with/without concomitant su...
